Virginia Gingerbread Christmas 2022

It’s back!  The annual, in person, Gingerbread Competition is back, along with a virtual option for those who live out-of-town.  We are so pleased to make this announcement.  We are also pleased to let you know that this year’s display of the entries will be held at the beautiful Marriott Residence Inn on Main and Ridge Streets.  It will be the perfect showcase for the amazing baking and design skills of professional chefs, businesses, organizations, kids, and kids-at-heart. And, the addition of the virtual option means that folks from any city, state, or country can enter the competition.  Pictures of these entries will be displayed at the Residence Inn, as well.  The Ronald McDonald House of Charlottesville is thrilled to host this wonderful tradition! We hope each and every one of you will begin thinking about your entry for this year’s theme – “Christmas in the Country”.  You may read about competition guidelines and the dates and times for submission and for the public display on the 2022 Gingerbread Entry Form

To submit your entry into the competition, please complete the 2022 Gingerbread Entry Form and send it to the Ronald McDonald House by Monday, November 28, 2022. You may fax (434.295.7735), email (info@rmhcharlottesville.org), mail (300 9th St., SW, Charlottesville, VA  22903, or deliver your entry to the House.

The prizes for the winner of each Individual category, and the Family, Business, Group/Organization amd Virtual categories will now not only include the beautiful  awards, as given in the past, but also a cash prize of $100.  Professional Bakers/Chefs who currently work as such will vie for a $250 prize.  This is all due to the generosity of a donor who wished to support the good will generated by the gingerbread contest. There are categories for everyone to enter – as a child, adult, family, business/organization, or as a professional. And, regardless of where you live, you can participate.  This event is great fun and brings joy to those who participate AND to those who view it.

EXTRA! EXTRA! If you love to elaborately decorate Christmas Trees we have an event for you!  We are expanding our gingerbread event to include a Tree Decorating contest.  We’ve purchased the trees – YOU provide the sparkle and bling.  Pick a theme of your choice and go for it!  You can read all about it using this link Tree Contest
