RMHC Outreach Coordinator
The Ronald McDonald House of Charlottesville (RMHC) exists to serve and sustain families when serious illness or injury strikes the most cherished part of their lives, their children. In an effort to lessen the burden, reduce stress, keep the family intact, and enhance the quality of life for these families, they provide affordable housing in a caring, safe community atmosphere. Annually, RMHC hosts between 400 and 600 family stays. A stay could be an overnight visit or stretch to last many, many months. Families travel from across the state, from different states and even from overseas to receive medical treatment for their children.
Ronald McDonald House of Charlottesville is searching for a motivated and professional Outreach Coordinator to join our staff. This critical role represents RMHC and works with the management team to develop and implement initiatives that increase House visibility within the greater Charlottesville community and beyond.
The Outreach Coordinator will join a group of passionate professionals who strive to uphold the mission of the Ronald McDonald House. This position requires self-motivation, enthusiasm, communication skills, organization and a focus on family centered care, along with a positive attitude and readiness to be a team player.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and obtaining volunteer information for both long term and event volunteers
- Leading volunteer orientation sessions, establishing their duties and assembly tasks lists
- Supervising on-site volunteers
- Representing the House at volunteer fairs; recruiting, establishing and maintaining volunteer relationships
- Creating and maintaining volunteer and vendor lists and calendars for various programs, including meals at the House, hospital programs, projects, etc.
- Assisting the Executive Director with events as needed
- Assisting with House administrative functions, such as answering phones, responding to inquiries, and interacting with families.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Executive Director
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or related fields preferred
- 2+ year’s outreach/team management experience preferred
- Outstanding written communication and presentation skills
- Friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude
- Strong ability to work with others and independently
- Detail-orientated with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
Physical Demands
This job does require traveling within the community to attend meetings, programs, and events. While some of the work is sedentary, there are times when lifting in excess of 50 lbs. is required.
Anticipated hiring range: $22-25/hr. commensurate with education and experience.
This position will remain open until filled. The Ronald McDonald House Charlottesville will perform background checks on all new hire prior to employment.

Evening and Weekend Managers, Overnight Manager –
House Managers are responsible for internal House operations and are the primary contact during their shift for our guests and volunteers. The Manager is responsible for maintaining a home-like and supportive environment, while also maintaining the security of the facility and our guests. The Manager is expected to collaborate with other House Manager team members to fill open shifts as needed, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Job Type Part-time
Saturday and Sunday 8AM-4PM, or 4PM-10PM and Thursday evening from 6PM-12AM, or overnights Midnight or 10 pm to 8 am, depending on the night of the week.
Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper – This individual will be responsible for data entry into Quickbooks and will follow internal control procedures for maintaining daily and monthly accounting records. The AA will also assist the Executive Director with phone calls, correspondence, and research, and will assist Staff when answering the phone and door bell when needed, along with other House tasks shared by all Staff. A strong candidate for the job will be proficient in Quickbooks, and all applications of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.). Further, candidates need to be punctual, dependable, detail oriented, efficient, and like to laugh. As with all House employees, a strong candidate must be mission drivien, and have a commitment to serving children and their families. This position is currently part- time, but future consideration will be given to full-time employment for those candidates with addtional skills that could strengthen the team.
