Metal Recycling
Metal Recycling – It’s a Win-Win-Win
The Charlottesville Ronald McDonald House Charities asks for your support with a larger recycling opportunity to benefit the House. As you may know, we have been active in collecting and recycling aluminum pop tabs for over two decades. During that time, we have collected countless pop tabs from local schools, businesses, and residents in Central Virginia. We still consider it to be a signature program of ours.
But did you know that you can recycle so many of the items you might otherwise throw in the trash, donate or abandon? Think of the things in our daily lives which we discard that are all metal or have metal components: lawn furniture, gutters, cars, old swing sets, broken microwaves, grills, old dishwashers and other appliances, construction materials, bed frame parts….and the list goes on and on. These still have a value and can all be recycled. And, they can all be recycled to benefit the House! If you have any questions about what is acceptable for recycling and what is not simply call your local recycler.
Though we can only accept pop tabs at the House, you can deliver any of these other metal items directly to your local metal recycler (in Charlottesville, this would be Gerdau) and send the amount reclaimed to us.
Donating to the House in this manner is a ‘Triple Win’:
A win for YOU – you can rid your house and property of unwanted items;
A win for the ENVIRONMENT – these materials are recycled for new uses, and not added to landfills;
A win for US – the $$ that flow to us through your recycling directly support House operations.
Please consider how you might be able to participate in this important WIN-WIN-WIN!
