This is a new volunteer opportunity! The Ronald McDonald House of Charlottesville is in need of volunteers interested in ‘adopting the House’ for a week and providing perishable kitchen essentials for our guest families such as eggs, milk, cheese, bread, etc. If you are looking for a way to contribute to the House without forfeiting too much personal time, please consider adopting the House for a week. All donations are used directly by the families of children receiving care at the University of Virginia’s Children’s Hospital.
Guidelines
- The approximate cost is around $15 and the list of kitchen essentials changes every week. Our Volunteer Coordinator will provide a list of the items needed based on the week. For example: One week we may need an extra gallon of milk in the House for children staying here. It all depends on the needs of the families in that given week.
- Volunteers are welcome to purchase the items at the grocery store themselves and drop them off OR donate a grocery giftcard/cash that staff will use to purchase the kitchen items.
- Volunteers can sign up to adopt the House for just one week or for multiple weeks. Timing is flexible!
