One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a figure in the distance. As he got closer, he realized the figure was that of a boy picking something us and gently throwing it into the ocean. He asked, “What are you doing?” The youth replied, “Throwing starfish in the ocean. The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in, they’ll die.” The man said, “Don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t possibly make a difference!” The boy bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said, “I made a difference for that one.” (Adapted from The Star Thrower by Loren Eiseley) We thank you for your donations to the House – they make a difference! The Love Train
It’s been a busy week here. Let’s begin by telling you about the wonderful Train family. These good folks -Mom, Dad, Allison, and Jeremy – came to visit C’ville for a long weekend last week and wanted to do some community service combined with their sightseeing. They spent a busy 3 hours doing everything from cleaning light fixtures to cataloging video games. They truly set an example for family togetherness, not only sharing the entertainment but also the work. Thank you, Train Family, for your hard work, your joyous spirit, and for the example you set for all of us.
