Ronald McDonald House Charities Charlottesville
Board of Directors
-
A. Price Boxley, IV
I have been with The McDonald’s Corporation since 1989 and I became a store Owner/Operator in 2006. With restaurants in the Shenandoah Valley and Charlottesville, most support the Ronald McDonald House Charlottesville in many ways.
I enjoy contributing to the RMHC Board by offering my expertise and experience. My goal is to see the RMHC grow in size so that we can better serve UVA Children’s Hospital.
-
Emily Boxley, Nurse Practitioner/Mom
I serve on the RMHC Charlottesville Board because I believe in the mission of RMHC and know first hand how valuable the house is to the families of the pediatric patients at UVa Health System. I was able to stay at the house 13 years ago while my middle son was in the NICU. It was such a blessing and my hope is to serve the house to pass this blessing on to others.
-
Dan Buckman, Managing Partner, Buckman & Company
Having family who worked in the medical field, and also having close friends and family experience serious health challenges of their own, I understand how daunting the new reality can feel when your child is experiencing serious illness. I feel compelled to help others and support my community to ease this burden even by a small amount. I am proud of the work RMHC does, and I am thrilled to be part of the team.
-
Mike Callahan
Mike brings to the Board a perspective of someone who once lived at a Ronald McDonald House. In 2019 Mike, his wife Emily, and son Jack lived at the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia while Jack underwent cancer treatment. Mike gained a deep appreciation for the House and its mission of caring for the whole family. During the day Mike leads a small business that provides planning, design, and market analysis services to local governments.

Cheryl Duncan, Marketing & Digital Manager, CBS19
The Ronald McDonald house holds a special place in my heart. We experienced a serious health issue with our son when he was 7 and I learned how important it is to have a safe, close place to stay while your child is in the hospital. I’ve worked with the House in Charlottesville for 15 years in several capacities and I am honored to be a board member.
-
Lorna Facteau, RN, PhD
Dr. Facteau joined the Board of Directors of the Ronald McDonald House as the natural extension of her fifty-year career in the discipline of nursing caring for children hospitalized for serious illness. Her years at the bedside confirmed the importance of a family’s presence during the care of their children. The McDonald philosophy is a perfect match for her lifetime commitment to family-centered care. Her current focus it to work with the Children’s Hospital’s growth plans so that we will be able to support families today and in the future.
-
Nikki Facteau

-
Barbara Fitch, Academic Operations Coordinator at UVA Darden School of Business
Being part of the Ronald McDonald House Board allows me to serve families during some of their most difficult moments. As someone deeply committed to community care and support, I believe in creating spaces of comfort, healing, and hope. This role gives me the opportunity to help ensure families stay close to their children during medical treatments, surrounded by compassion and love—something every child and parent deserves.
-
Thomas Harkins, Retired, UVA Health System
Being a member of the Board of RMHC of Charlottesville is a privlege.
To help support the families of children at UVA Children’s Hospital and the staff of the House that take care of them is one of the most rewarding opportunities that I have ever had. I can think of no more important mission than caring for these families. We on the Board are the real beneficiaries of the House as we get more in return in than we can ever give our families.
-
Cali Hendricks
Coming from a family deeply connected to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Cali has a long-standing commitment supporting the organization’s mission. Her father-in-law, Richard Hendricks, helped open the first Ronald McDonald House in Charlottesville, marking the beginning of a legacy that Cali and her family continue to support. With a background in education and a passion for helping others, Cali has served on the board for 4 years, contributing to the growth and impact of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
-
Paula Johnson, Realtor, RE/MAX Commonwealth
It is a privilege to serve our community as a Board member of RMHCC. It offers me a chance to make a significant difference in the lives of families facing medical challenges and to play a crucial role in supporting the mission of RMHCC to help families stay together and close to the medical care of their child. Ever since I volunteered in the Child Life Program at Hershey Medical Center, I have been touched by the resiliency of children with serious medical needs.
-
Kyle McNew, Attorney, MichieHamlett PLLC
My firm has a long history with RMHC Charlottesville. Given the role that the House plays in our community, and as a father myself, continuing our firm’s connection with the House was an opportunity I’d been looking forward to. The mission is vital, and the efficiency of service provided is uncommonly impressive. It feels good to serve an organization that serves so many.
-
Joseph Miller, Senior Loan Officer, Intercoastal Mortgage
RMHC has been a passion project of my family for the last 40 years. As a child I had multiple visits to Children’s Hospital in DC and even over 45 years later can remember my parents sleeping on the floor. A RMH would have meant the world to them at that time. The stability and “home” that RMH provides families during a time of amazing instability is so crucial to their own well being. It’s a gift to be able to think we are taking anything off their immense plate.

Mariana Sander
In 2016, my family faced one of the toughest times in our lives, and Ronald McDonald House became our safe haven. The support we received—both emotional and physical—was everything we needed. It had a lasting impact on me, and it’s something I’m committed to giving back. Being part of the RMHC Board means so much to me, as I get to help provide the same care and comfort to families in need. I truly believe in the strength of community, and I want every family to feel the same compassion that made such a difference for us.
-
Jonathan Swanson MD, MSc, MBA
The Ronald McDonald House is important to me because it provides a vital source of comfort and stability for families facing medical crises. As a neonatologist, I see firsthand the challenges families endure when their infant is hospitalized. Serving on the Board of Directors allows me to support this mission, ensuring that families have a home away from home; keeping families close to their babies and close to the care their child needs, during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
-
Scott C. Waskey, Vice President, Shore United Bank
I handled the financing of the renovations on the House several years ago, and as a result became very familiar with the mission and operations of the House. At the invitation of the Executive Director, I gladly became a member of the Board!
